Privacy Policy

Effective May 25, 2026 · TidingsView LLC, Ohio

This Privacy Policy describes how TidingsView LLC collects, uses, and shares information when you use tidingsview.com. Please read it carefully. By using TidingsView, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Who We Are

TidingsView is operated by TidingsView LLC, an Ohio limited liability company ("TidingsView," "we," "us," "our"). Our website is located at tidingsview.com. You can reach us at hello@tidingsview.com. For privacy-specific requests, contact privacy@tidingsview.com.

2. What Information We Collect

We collect information in the following ways:

Information You Provide Directly

• Contact email address — when you submit a news source, sign up for a business listing, or contact us. • Business information — name, address, phone number, website, description, and category when you submit a business listing. • Publication information — name, RSS feed URL, coverage area, source type, topics, and description when you submit a news source. • Anonymous source recommendations — when you use the "Recommend a Source" form at tidingsview.com/suggest, we collect the submitted RSS URL, region label, source type, topics, and an optional note. No account or email is required. This form is available to users worldwide. To prevent spam, we store a one-way cryptographic hash (SHA-256) of your IP address — not the IP address itself. This hash cannot be reversed to identify you and is used solely to enforce submission rate limits. • Content reports — when you use the "Report" button on an article, we store the feed ID, article URL, article title, reason for reporting, and a one-way cryptographic hash of your IP address for anti-abuse purposes. No account or email is required. This feature is available to users worldwide. • Payment information — billing details when you subscribe to a business listing. Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe. TidingsView does not store your payment card information.

Information Collected Automatically

• Usage data — pages visited, time on site, referring URL, and general geographic region (country/state level), collected via server-side request logs. • Interaction data — article views, listing clicks, and listing saves, collected in aggregate for platform analytics and business dashboard reporting. See "Analytics and Dashboard Reporting" below. • Save events — when you save or unsave a business listing, the listing ID and action (save or unsave) are transmitted to our servers and applied as an increment or decrement to a cumulative counter on that listing. No personal information — including IP address, session ID, or device identifier — is recorded in connection with save events. • Device and browser information — browser type, operating system, and screen resolution. • IP address — used for rate limiting and spam and abuse prevention. Server-side IP address logs are retained for up to 90 days. • Browser preferences — certain display preferences (such as globe navigation state) may be stored locally in your browser using cookies or local storage. This data does not leave your device and is not transmitted to our servers.

Information from Third Parties

• Google reCAPTCHA v3 — we use reCAPTCHA on our submission forms to detect automated abuse. reCAPTCHA v3 operates in the background and collects hardware and software information, including mouse movements, timing data, and browser characteristics, which is sent to Google. Google's Privacy Policy applies to this data: policies.google.com/privacy. By using our submission forms, you acknowledge that reCAPTCHA v3 is active on those pages.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to: • Operate and improve the TidingsView platform. • Process and manage business listing subscriptions and payments via Stripe. • Review submitted news sources and business listings. • Send transactional emails — submission confirmations, approvals, rejections, and account-related notices — via Resend. Transactional emails are necessary for the operation of the service and cannot be opted out of while you have an active account or pending submission. • Prevent spam, abuse, and fraudulent activity using rate limiting and reCAPTCHA. • Review content reports submitted by users and take appropriate action on flagged articles and feeds, which may include blocking an article from display, placing a feed on watchlist, suspending a feed, or permanently removing it from TidingsView. TidingsView is an aggregator of third-party RSS feeds — our moderation actions apply to content as displayed on TidingsView only and do not affect the original content at its source. • Aggregate anonymized usage data (such as article views and listing clicks) and share this data with the owners of the relevant content sources and business listings through their respective dashboards. This data is aggregated and does not identify individual users. See "Analytics and Dashboard Reporting" below. • Respond to inquiries and support requests. • Comply with legal obligations. We do not use your information to send marketing emails unless you have explicitly opted in. We do not sell your personal information to any third party. We do not use your information for behavioral advertising.

4. Analytics and Dashboard Reporting

TidingsView collects aggregated, anonymized usage data — including article views, listing clicks, and listing saves — generated by reader activity on the platform. This data is made available to business listing subscribers through their business dashboard. All analytics data shared through dashboards is aggregated and does not identify or expose information about any individual user. No personally identifiable information is transmitted to dashboard users as part of this feature. The saves count displayed in a business's dashboard is a cumulative total of save events recorded, not a count of unique users. A user who clears their browser data and saves a listing again may be counted more than once. By using TidingsView as a reader, you acknowledge that your interaction with content — such as viewing an article, clicking a business listing, or saving a business listing — may be counted as part of aggregated, anonymized analytics visible to the owner of that content or listing.

5. Third-Party Services

TidingsView uses the following third-party services that may process your data: • Stripe — payment processing and subscription management. Stripe's Privacy Policy applies to all payment data: stripe.com/privacy. • Supabase — database hosting and storage. Data is stored on servers in the United States. • Vercel — web hosting and serverless infrastructure. Vercel processes request data including IP addresses. We configure Vercel to minimize log retention where possible. Please refer to Vercel's Privacy Policy for details on their data handling practices. • Resend — transactional email delivery. Email addresses and message content are processed to deliver emails. • Upstash — Redis-based caching and rate limiting. Used for two purposes: (1) IP address hashes stored to enforce submission rate limits, expiring automatically within 1 hour; (2) synthesized audio cached server-side for up to 7 days to serve the audio read-aloud feature efficiently. No user data is stored in either cache. • Google Cloud Text-to-Speech — when you use the audio read-aloud feature, article headline text is transmitted to the Google Cloud Text-to-Speech API server-side to generate audio. No user information is transmitted — only the article text being read aloud, which is publicly available RSS content. Google Cloud's privacy terms apply: cloud.google.com/terms/cloud-privacy-notice. • Google reCAPTCHA — bot detection on submission forms. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy: policies.google.com/privacy. • OpenStreetMap / Nominatim — geocoding service used to convert business addresses into map coordinates. Business address data is transmitted to Nominatim's public API. OpenStreetMap's Privacy Policy applies: wiki.osmfoundation.org/wiki/Privacy_Policy. • Open-Meteo — weather data for the city-level weather panel. City latitude and longitude coordinates are transmitted to Open-Meteo's public API to retrieve weather forecasts. No personal information is sent. Open-Meteo is an open-source weather API: open-meteo.com. Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them. Where required by applicable law, TidingsView maintains data processing agreements with its third-party service providers.

6. Cookies and Local Storage

TidingsView uses minimal cookies and browser storage. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. The storage we use includes: • Cookie consent preference — your cookie banner choice is stored in your browser's local storage under the key "tv_consent" so you are not prompted again. This data never leaves your device. • News preferences — if you consent to preference storage, your followed news sources, pinned articles, and personal feed content are stored locally in your browser. This data is cached on-device for performance and is never transmitted to our servers or shared with third parties. • Globe navigation state — your last-visited region and display preferences may be stored locally to restore your position on return visits. • Session cookies — short-lived cookies required for the operation of the business dashboard. These expire when you close your browser. • Third-party cookies — Stripe and Google reCAPTCHA may set their own cookies as part of their services. We do not control these. They are only active when you use those specific features. You can configure your browser to refuse cookies or clear local storage at any time. Some features of the site — including your saved news feed and business dashboard — may not function correctly if you do.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide the service and comply with legal obligations: • Business listing data is retained while your subscription is active and for 90 days after cancellation, after which it is deleted unless retention is required by applicable law. • Submitted news source data is retained while the feed is active or pending review, and for 90 days following removal or rejection. • Email addresses provided for transactional purposes are retained unless you request deletion. • Server logs containing IP addresses are retained for up to 90 days. • Rate-limit hashes stored in Upstash expire automatically within 1 hour and are not retained beyond their rate-limiting purpose. • Audio read-aloud cache stored in Upstash expires automatically within 7 days. No user data is retained — cached content is synthesized audio derived from publicly available article headlines. • Payment records processed through Stripe may be subject to financial recordkeeping requirements and retained for the period required by applicable law, which may exceed the periods above. You may request deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us at privacy@tidingsview.com. We will respond within 30 days.

8. Your Rights

Depending on where you are located, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information, including: • The right to access the personal information we hold about you. • The right to correct inaccurate personal information. • The right to request deletion of your personal information. • The right to object to or restrict certain processing. • The right to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@tidingsview.com. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request. Ohio residents: Under Ohio law, you have the right to know what personal information we collect about you, to request a copy of that information, to request correction of inaccurate data, and to request deletion of your data. We do not sell personal information. To exercise these rights, contact privacy@tidingsview.com. California residents: Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, and to opt out of the sale of your personal information. We do not sell personal information. California residents may submit rights requests to privacy@tidingsview.com and will receive a response within 45 days. Other U.S. state residents: Residents of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, and other states with applicable privacy laws may submit rights requests to privacy@tidingsview.com. We will respond consistent with applicable requirements. EU/UK residents: TidingsView is operated in the United States and does not specifically target users in the European Union or United Kingdom. If you are located in the EU or UK and have questions about your personal information, please contact privacy@tidingsview.com.

9. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. These include encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), access controls on our database, and use of reputable third-party infrastructure providers. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach that materially affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

10. Children

TidingsView is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@tidingsview.com and we will delete it promptly.

11. Links to Other Sites

TidingsView displays news content sourced from third-party RSS feeds and links to external websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. This Privacy Policy applies only to information collected by TidingsView.

12. Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal that you can enable to request that websites not track your browsing activity. TidingsView does not use cross-site behavioral tracking. Because we do not track users across third-party websites, we do not respond to DNT signals in a technically distinct way — our data practices are the same regardless of whether DNT is enabled.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. If you have an active business listing or submitted feed, we will notify you by email at least 14 days before material changes take effect. Continued use of TidingsView after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
